Brinsworth Lane is a key local route serving:

• residential areas
• access to community facilities
• access to local destinations
• The road accommodates a mix of motor traffic, pedestrians and cyclists, with regular crossing movements along its length.
• The surrounding environment includes residential properties and destinations that generate pedestrian activity, including movements by children and older people.

The proposed 20mph speed limit is intended to manage vehicle speeds and improve safety on this section of road. Reducing vehicle speeds is recognised as an important factor in lowering collision severity and improving pedestrian–vehicle intervisibility, particularly where road users interact within a constrained highway environment.

Introducing a 20 mph speed limit will

Benefit road users with particular relevance for vulnerable users, including older people and children, who regularly cross and travel along Brinsworth Lane when moving between nearby residential areas and local facilities.

Description of proposal

It is proposed to reduce the existing 30mph speed limit along Brinsworth Lane to 20mph, between the A631 Bawtry Road and Croft Road, as shown on drawing No 126/46/TT121.
