Community Governance Review 2026

Overview

Welcome to our Community Governance Review 2026

We are inviting you to take part in a Community Governance Review. The purpose of the review is to enable the Council to consider if any changes are needed to the parish electoral arrangements in Rotherham.

The outcome of a Community Governance Review can include:

  • Making changes to parish boundaries
  • Creating, merging or abolishing parishes
  • Changing the names of parishes
  • Changing the electoral arrangements, such as the number of councillors and parish wards

A Community Governance Review cannot:

  • Change the amount of money that a parish council raises through your Council Tax (known as a precept)
  • Change or remove individual parish, town or community councillors
  • Change Borough ward boundaries or the number of Borough councillors

First stage consultation: 1 May to 26 June 2026

We are seeking the views and any proposals of residents, parish, town and community councils and other interested parties to help shape the future of local governance in Rotherham.

You can take part by completing the online questionnaire using the link at the bottom of the page.
